The evolution of IoT in the world of transport has always been more discreet, or perhaps intimate, depending on how you look at it. Until relatively recently, and unlike other technological aspects related to day-to-day life, the benefits of the Internet of Things on a means of transport were not clear.
But as we go, planes, cars, buses or trains are starting to benefit from the new technological solutions. Now, the concept of “connected transport,” or Connected Transportation, is a reality that affects all types of media.
It is expected that in the next few years more than 290 exabytes of data will occur only in the smart car sector, for example. Connected transport offers great promises: from a substantial improvement in transport efficiency to additional services that, implemented with other IoT solutions, could create an appropriate technological environment to truly support Smart City.
